national palace museum

Breakfast was some pancakes with egg [蛋餅] and soymilk [豆漿]! The cover things on the cups have these corny jokes - they even admit it themselves because the Chinese call them cold (like the joke was so bad that you can feel a cold breeze go by). The one I got wasn't so great: What is a net made out of? Lots of holes.

my pancakes had bacon in it and my mom's had corn! =)

More museum visiting! This time to the National Palace Museum! It's got a lot of cool artifacts from the Neolithic Period through all the dynasties. Too bad they forbade photo-taking =( =(.

The two most interesting exhibits I saw were this "Nature and Human in Unison: the Smart Carvings of Jade and Beautiful Stones" and "Uncanny Ingenuity and Celestial Feats: the Carvings of Ming and Qing Dynasties." The highlights of the nature and human exhibit were a jade carving of a bok choy cabbage [大白菜] (yes a cabbage) and a piece of fatty meat (yes a piece of fatty meat). The thing with these carvings that make them cool, is that they used the natural coloring of the jade to carve the cabbage out.

just like a bok choy!

looks yummy doesn't it.

The second exhibit I liked the best was the ingenuity and celestial feats. Haha - if you see some of these carvings, they're really almost god-like. I don't know how such intricate carvings are possible.

there's a ball inside a ball, inside a ball =O

you can't really see it, but there's a mini buddha on every floor =O

After around 5 hours of walking through the museum, I was so tired! My feet were killing me huh - even my mom took a 5 minute nap. We took a walk in the garden outside the museum and took lots and lots of pictures to make up for the ones we couldn't take inside the museum =D.

Finally, mom and I ate dinner at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant! My first time eating at one of those =D.

=P

Kekeke. Now I'm back at my uncle's, typing up this entry. The one bad thing about Taiwan is that the pictures take FOREVER to upload =( I guess because it is uploading to a system halfway across the world… Patience is a virtue... I will upload the pictures tomorrow! It's sleep time because it is 4am!

edit: finally got the pictures up.
